Product Recall: Thomas the Tank Engine
A bunch of Thomas the Tank Engine toys have been recalled for containing lead in red and yellow paint on wooden products. This makes me absolutely sick. My son and daughter gnaw on their toys, like all toddlers. The crap was imported from China, where consumer protection and product safety regulation are lax and unenforced. I hope that people hang for this, including the scumbags who imported the offending toys without testing them. They wanted to save a few bucks, so let them pay the price now. The products have been on sale for over two years.
Contact your Congressman. Our kids’ lives are worth more than padded product licensing fees.
It’s a shame that the licensor did not take more care of what happened with their brand, because it is now dead. No sensible parent will want their kids playing with any potentially affected products. And I really am sorry, because the Thomas stories and shows were wonderful. But lead poisoning is worse. The real risk is probably minor, though it would be helpful if more details were forthcoming from the company. It’s just not worth the risk. There are other cute toys.
I just hate this.
